Submission Guidelines

SUBMISSIONS

Archaeopteryx: The Newman Journal of Ideas accepts submissions year-round and is published annually in both print and online versions.  All work that is accepted for publication will receive a payment of two year’s subscription to the magazine (worth 20 dollars). Contributors will be given the option to purchase, at a reduced rate, additional copies of the volume in which their work appears. Archaeopteryx maintains the right to publish and reproduce all accepted submissions in both print and online versions. Rights to reprint the work are returned to the author upon publication. Writers may send poetry, short stories, creative non-fiction, and essays to either of the following addresses:

While the magazine welcomes unsolicited manuscripts, it cannot accept responsibility for their loss or damage.  Rejected manuscripts will not be returned unless accompanied by a self-addressed, stamped envelope.  All submissions must be in English and previously unpublished.  Please submit no more than six poems at a time.  Please submit only one story or essay manuscript at a time.  Essays should be submitted in endnote style (no parenthetical citations).

Simultaneous submissions are also acceptable as long as we are notified immediately if the manuscript is accepted for publication elsewhere.  Be sure to include phone and (if possible) e-mail contact information.  We suggest to all who submit that they read several issues of Archaeopteryx to acquaint themselves with material the magazine has published.  Back issues may be obtained through Amazon.com or by writing to either of the addresses above.
